On October 28, 2024, under the chairmanship of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron, a Preliminary Land Reservation Contract was signed for the PTX Chbika project in Tan-Tan. Led by TE H2 (TotalEnergies and Groupe EREN) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and AP Møller Capital, this project aims to produce 200,000 tons of green ammonia per year for Europe using 1 GW of solar and wind power. The Guelmim Oued-Noun Regional Investment Centre coordinates stakeholders for this megaproject which harnesses Morocco's renewable energy potential.
